About the Author

Over the past seven years, Kat Volzer has conducted over 600 bicycle safety education programs with 20,000 children in the Chattanooga area.  She is a League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor and a PMBIA certified mountain bike instructor.  Kat has always wanted to be an author and enjoys reading and writing children's books in her spare time.

The Full Story (as told by Kat)...

Many years ago, I was riding my bike around town as a mechanic for the local bike share system. As I was riding that warm spring day, I was thinking about what adventures the weekend would bring to our family with my young son in tow and how I longed for some form of “easy button,” or a resource for suggestions. Chattanooga is such an outdoorsy town, surely there must be some form of guide on what to do, where to go, and how to have an safe, fun outdoor adventure with a kid, right?

After weeks of research came up shorthanded, Adventure Field Guides for Kids was born. In the next coming months and years, I hope to expand to different metropolitan regions of Tennessee and beyond, along with other outdoor activities we enjoy as family.  

Giving Back to the Chattanooga Community
