Why We Made Gloves for Cold Weather

A lot of people told us not to make these gloves. That is because before us, there wasn't a good option for cycling gloves meant for cold weather. All other gloves before ours were big, bulky, and just not sexy.

Our idea though was to keep the glove as minimal as possible to keep your dexterity on the handlebars, while adding warmer materials where it mattered most. That core idea coupled with fun designs turned what was once a not-sexy product into a yearly custom favorite.

Exactly as advertised!

I tested these outside today in the 7C pouring PNW rain. My hands were toasty and dry. The longer tab on the inner wrist makes getting the gloves on and off easier. In terms of fit, I wear a small in other brands and XS in Handup. I find these fit similar to the Colder gloves with a bit more length in the fingers.

Good for chilly weather but not cold

I love Hand Up gloves in general. These are the first cold weather version I have bought and I'm ambivalent about them. I used them first in 30 degree temperatures and my hands were cold. I used them again in warmer temperatures, more like 45-50, and they kept my hands warm. When I bought them I thought they would have a thin lining of some kind. They do not. They are one layer of windbreaker type material. The seams are a little on the rough side also. They are basically little windbreakers for your hands.

I decided to keep them because the pattern is super cute and they will work for somewhat chilly rides but for colder rides, I will still need to use a different brand of gloves I own that have a thin softer lining.

My wife and I have been wearing HandUps for years now, she a size Medium and me a Large. Bought this glove for her for Christmas in the usual size M but found it way small. Had to exchange for a size L. Thankfully HandUp makes the process relatively quick and easy.
